The Conference of Youth (COY) is the most substantial youth conference related to the multilateral UN climate processes.

These conferences build-up to the Global COY, held annually in the same country as COP, preceding it by a few days.

YOUNGO, UNFCCC’s youth constitu-ency empowers and brings youth voices to shape intergovernmental climate change policies.

To achieve universal accessibility, inclusion, and diversity, YOUNGO organizes local and regional COYs annually across the world.

UNFCCC: The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change has long recognized the COY as a space consistent with the United Nations Youth Strategy (Youth 2030).

COP28 Presidency: The COP28 Presidency has recognized COY to continue their efforts on championing youth voices, and have highlighted the Conference as a cornerstone event for capacity building and inclusion.

UN Youth Envoy: Jayathma Wickramanayake has shared a letter of endorsement form the office of the Youth Envoy of the United Nations, positioning COY as an opportunity for youth engagement and for building on a better future.

Introducing the COY18 Hosts

The Arab Youth Center (AYC) is a non-profit organization that was established to empower young Arabs on a regional scale and address their needs. The Center offers a unique platform to develop youth capabilities and support innovation and creativity among youth. AYC implements purposeful initiatives across diverse sectors while also conducting research on young Arabs to help decision-makers shape policies that enable their progress.

The American University of Sharjah (AUS) is an internationally recognized institution known for its modern campus and facilities, is part of the COP28 University Climate Network and ranked 5th for for community engagement in sustainability worldwide. AUS integrates eco-friendly practices into its operations and curriculum, empowering students to be environmentally concious and responsible global citizens.

"Green House" is a student interest group affiliated with NYU Abu Dhabi. Their focus revolves around addressing the climate crisis through education, action, and organization. Instead of solely concentrating on individual sustainability efforts, Green House directs its attention towards broader matters like climate policy, impactful climate solutions, and environmental equity. They emphasize the human aspects and consequences in their endeavors, aiming to create tangible and meaningful change.

A collective statement representing the perspectives of youth from around the world, building on L/RCOYs, to be presented to decision-makers.

Action Planning

Roundtable discussions, focus groups, fun activities, bilateral meetings with decision-makers, etc.

Capacity Building

Workshops, training, courses, and plenary sessions on negotiations, leadership, policy, fundraising, media training, advocacy, etc.
